Q. What is the instrumentation of the David Humphreys Orchestra?
A. The David Humphreys Orchestra (DHO) is a self-contained group consisting of musical director David Humphreys, Piano, Bass, Drums, two Guitars, Violin and both Male and Female vocalists. Recommended for 100-500 guests.

Q. What is the instrumentation of the David Humphreys Band?
A. The David Humphreys Band is a self-contained group consisting of drums, bass, guitar, piano, and both male and female vocalists. Recommended for 100 guests or less.

Q. What is the David Humphreys Jazz Trio?
A. The David Humphreys Jazz trio is a self-contained group consisting of piano, string bass and drums. Recommended for afternoon weddings and rehearsal dinners.

Q. What is the David Humphreys String Quartet?
A. The David Humphreys String Quartet is two violins, one viola, and one cello. The quartet performs alone or with any dance group.

Q. When should the music start?
A. For any event, the music should begin playing when the first guest arrives. Music relaxes your guests and lets them know they are welcome.

Q. How can I be sure the orchestra plays songs that I want?
A. The DHO offers a complete list from which you can choose your favorite song titles. If there is a special request, DHO will do its best to accommodate you. David Humphreys will consult with you prior to the event and make sure they have incorporated all song requests into the set list for the event. At that time, David will discuss which songs you do not wish to hear that evening. David’s least favorite song is “Feelings.”

Q. Should the orchestra be on a stage?
A. Yes, a stage helps promote dancing and defines the space for the comfort of your guests and the performers. The recommended stage height is 8 inches.

Q. How much room will the orchestra need to perform?
A. The DHO usually requires a minimum stage that is 8 inches high by 24 feet wide by 16 feet deep. Click here for staging diagram (Acrobat PDF)

Q. What will the orchestra wear?
A. The orchestra will wear black tuxedo or white dinner jackets, suits or blue blazers. If you have a special theme, the orchestra can accommodate costume ideas discussed prior to the evening of the event.

Q. How do you handle breaks?
A. The DHO plays continuous music for four or five hours. Overtime is always available in half hour increments.

Q. What sound equipment will the orchestra require the client to supply?
A. The DHO will arrange for all sound equipment for your event. The client is not responsible for renting or providing any sound equipment for the DHO during an event.

Q. What are the electrical requirements for the orchestra?
A. The DHO will require at least three 20 amp circuits

Q. When and how will the orchestra set up?
A. The DHO will need at least three hours to load in and set up all music and sound equipment prior to the event.

Q. How far in advance should we book the orchestra?
A. Make sure that you book the DHO six to twelve months in advance, to insure you have the best choice in musical entertainment for your event.

Q. Will David come to visit the venue prior to the event?
A. Yes, it is recommended that you schedule a visit 90 days prior to your event.

Q. How far will the orchestra travel?
A. The DHO will travel to any location to perform. The DHO has performed all over the United States, Italy and in the Caribbean.

Q. How do I pay for the David Humphreys Orchestra?
A. Upon signing a contract, a 50% deposit is due. The balance is the be paid the Monday prior to the event.
